'Smørrebrød'originates from Denmark and should not be confused with the Swedish 'Smorgasbord' which is a cold buffet and does not necessarily link to the open faced sandwich on rye bread that is eaten in Denmark.
There are numerous restaurants in Copenhagen who serve 'smørrebrød'. And the Danes take well care of them, ranging from those who provide smørrebrød for lunch boxes to the working people, to those where smørrebrød is almost art.
In general, the restaurants which are most popular have a mix of excellent craftsmanship, outstanding quality of food and a a mixture between classical preparation and something new.
